intro: before we forget

(why this exists.)

i created this space for the Black girls who dream loudly.

the ones whose notes app is full of poems they'll never show anyone. the ones collecting screenshots of films, writing songs on lunch breaks, sketching outfits during meetings, and imagining entire worlds while riding the train home from work.

the girls balancing a 9-to-5 while protecting the artist inside of them.

the girls who feel too emotional, too specific, too whimsical, too hopeful, too ambitious for the boxes they've been given.

i know them because I am one.

growing up, i searched for spaces where Black women talked about art beyond productivity or popularity—where we could speak honestly about our inspirations, our grief, our beauty, our ancestors, our dreams, and the courage it takes to keep creating when no one is watching.

i wanted somewhere that treated creativity as a way of living, not simply a career.

so I built the place I wish I had.

this archive is about Black taste.

it's about soul.

it's about visual language, filmmaking, music, photography, poetry, acting, history, and the ordinary moments that become extraordinary when we pay attention to them.

it's about honoring the people who came before us while imagining worlds they never had the freedom to create.

you'll find director's notes, essays, visual studies, journals, conversations about Black art, playlists, moodboards, films, creative process, and the beautifully messy reality of becoming an artist.

most of all, I hope you leave here feeling less alone.

i hope you leave wanting to make something.

i hope you leave believing your perspective deserves to exist exactly as it is.

because being yourself is the most radical thing an artist can offer.

i believe in God.

i believe beauty is Blackness.

i believe music is soul.

i believe creative direction is taste and specificity.

i believe art should stand for something.

i believe our ancestors dreamed so we could imagine even bigger.

and i believe Black women deserve spaces where our creativity isn't explained, justified, or diminished—but celebrated.
